The candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for Lagos West Senatorial District, Dr. Idiat Oluranti Adebule has assured her constituents of qualitative representation in the red chamber if elected.

She gave the assurance on Wednesday when she unveiled her campaign manifesto tagged ‘My Pact With The People Of Lagos West’ at a press conference organized at Radisson Blu Hotel, Lagos.

The ceremony is coming two days after she inaugurated her campaign council to affirm her preparedness for the coming election.

While presenting her mission, vision statements and eleven-point agenda which according to her bordered on placing the senatorial district and “indeed Lagos State on a higher pedestal of excellence in governance to drive prosperity, peace and progress through legislative interventions,” Adebule sought the support of the voting public by way of their votes in actualizing her lofty plans for the common good of all.

The former secretary to the State Government and Deputy Governor boasted that she stands head and shoulders above other candidates in the race putting into consideration her experience and impeccable record in public service as well as her educational background which has seen her attain the highest degree obtainable.

She stated that her mission with respect to the social contract with her constituents is to, “serve as the impactful representative of my people in a manner that inspires and propels them towards prosperity, healthy and good living, and strengthens their belief in the Nigerian project.”

She assured that she will, ”Promote legislative interventions to strengthen national educational policies, programmes and attainment throughout the value chain with special emphasis on functionality of the Nigerian education system as the pivot for sustainable development.

“Prioritize the implementation of legislative programmes that would engender economic empowerment and upliftment of the people of Lagos West through targeted professional and vocational training as well as new skills acquisition including infotech training to harness the enormous talents of our people in order to discourage outward pull of our professionals to other countries.

“Support Lagos West small-scale entrepreneurs with knowledge upgrades to enhance their capacity to sustain and grow their businesses and vocations.”

She added that it is also in her plan to ensure that Lagos West Senatorial District earns its pride of place as the prime hub of tourism in Nigeria as she promised to see to the sustainable development and expansion of the rich cultural and vast historical tourism potentials the senatorial district boasts of.

Adebule added that the economically disadvantaged constituents will be given the deserved sense of belonging in her administration as she promised to: “Initiate programmes that support the vulnerable, economically disadvantaged, aged, physically challenged, widows and the unemployed to improve their well-being and healthy choices.”

For the youths, women and children, in general, Adebule vowed to “Promote and support legislative interventions targeted at the youth, women and children to ameliorate their vulnerability as regards education, employment, entrepreneurship and socio-political engagement in the Nigerian project.”

She added that one of her ultimate goals is to also push further the special status clamour for Lagos State giving its importance to the economy of the nation.

Her words: “In partnership with colleague Senators, I intend to pursue the actualisation of special status for Lagos State to enhance the socio-economic viability of the people of Lagos.”

Earlier, in his remarks, the Director-General of her campaign team; Adebule Campaign Council and Chairman of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, Hon. Rasaq Ajala enthused that Adebule’s candidature is a good product to sell by virtue of her impeccable personality and abundance integrity deposited in her.

He described her as: “a kind-hearted woman, a goal getter, an altruistic person who so much believed in the growth and development of Nigeria and Lagos west senatorial district in particular.”

Speaking on the campaign dimension, Ajala explained that it will be based on Adebule’s pedigree and the excellent performance of the APC-led government, especially during her time as the deputy governor of the state.

His words: “The campaign will be tailored to align and complement the campaign program of APC. We shall simplify and cascade our campaign message to resonate with the common /ordinary people on the street such as pepper sellers, groundnut sellers, bus drivers, pure water sellers, etc. And to achieve this, we would embark on an aggressive door-to-door campaign for all prospective voters to ensure that our principal HE Dr. Idiat Oluranti Adebule and our party achieve a resounding victory. We also intend to maximize the new media to its fullest by deploying it to all strata of people. We are also conscious of youth consciousness in the democratic process.

“According to INEC, in terms of demographic distribution, 7.2 million new voters or 76% are young people between 18-34 years. This is instructive to us and we intend to maximize this recent surge in youth turnout. To this end, our campaign is going to be data-driven in order to leverage this teeming youth upsurge.

The event had in attendance the party chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, the vice chairman (west) Tunde Aboyade, the Publicity Secretary, Mr. Seye Oladejo, the Auditor, Hon. Doyin Pikuda, Special Physically Challenged Leader, Israel Akiode, the former Senator representing Lagos West Senatorial District and Director General of Sanwo-Hamzat Campaign Organization, Hon. Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon, some council chairmen from the 28 LGA/LCDAs in the Senatorial district, artisan groups, and members of socio-cultural groups among others.
