After realizing what he tagged a very big error, the Vice President of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo has apologized to the foremost presidential candidate in the country and highly-respected national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for failing to recognize his presence at the funeral service of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s mother.
Tinubu was one of the top dignitaries that graced the event held on Saturday at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Owo.
While, Osinbajo acknowledged the presence of Kayode Fayemi, former governor of Ekiti, as well as Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Dapo Abiodun, governors of Lagos and Ogun, respectively, he left out Tinubu whom he acknowledged had sat next to him.
Shortly after his attention was drawn to it, Osinbajo expressed his apology stressing that he was very sorry for the very big error.
His words: “Before I go on, I have made a very big error. I have left out the presidential candidate of our great party, the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
He continued saying: “The Emilokan. Asiwaju, I’m sorry. He was sitting right next to me. Not just sitting right next to me, but right in front of me, but I honour you and welcome you to this event.”
Osinbajo had contested the party’s presidential ticket with Tinubu alongside former minister of transportation; Rotimi Amaechi among others in June. He came a distant third as he could only manage to poll 235 votes compared to Tinubu’s 1,271.
