Nigeria’s national honours are a set of orders and decorations conferred upon Nigerians and friends of Nigeria with remarkable feats every year.

The initiative was instituted by the National Honours Act No. 5 of 1964 to honour Nigerians who have rendered service to the benefit of the nation.
National honours are the highest honours or awards that a citizen can receive from his or her country for service to the country and there are entertainers who can boast of being recipients.

Teni

Teniola Apata simply known as Teni joined the list on Tuesday when she was awarded Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Burna Boy

Grammy-award winning singer Damini Ogulu aka Burna Boy was conferred with Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) honour on Tuesday by President Muhammadu Buhari.

KWAM 1

Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshal aka KWAM 1 was conferred with the rank of Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) by President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday.

2Baba

Innocent Idibia popularly known as 2Baba received Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) award by President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday.

Emeka Rollas Ejezie

Actor and President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Emeka Rollas Ejezie was awarded national honours in the rank of Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) on Tuesday.

Mosunmola Abudu (Mo Abudu)

Media personality and entrepreneur Mo Abudu received the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) honour on Tuesday.

Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde

In 2014, popular actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde was honoured by former President Goodluck Jonathan with Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) award for her contributions to Nigerian movie industry.

Kenneth Nnebue popular for ‘Living In Bondage’ movie is also a recipient of Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) award in 2014.

Genevieve Nnaji

In 2011, Genevieve Nnaji was honoured with Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) award for her contributions to Nollywood.
