The former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Adams Oshiomhole has said that the foremost presidential candidate in the country and national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, cannot be blamed or given credit for the actions and inactions of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The former Edo State governor said this during an interview on Arise TV on Wednesday.
Tinubu has been at the center of discussion by government critics who think he (Tinubu) should be blamed for some of the shortcomings of Buhari’s administration, especially in the areas of security and economy.
However, the former governor of Edo State said Tinubu never held any position in Buhari’s government and also did not take any government contract in the last seven years arguing that it would be wrong to link Tinubu with the actions of Buhari.
He, however, said that the Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo who heads the National Executive Council (NEC) has a bigger role in Buhari’s regime than Tinubu.
“You can’t say someone who never in any way participated in government should be credited with the outcome of government policies or be blamed either way,” he said
“I think in apportioning blame or crediting people, you look at their role. It is a fact that Asiwaju by himself said, yes, he co-founded the APC. I was a co-founding governor of the APC along with Fashola and other governors but he never participated in governance, he never held any position in government, he didn’t carry out a contract on behalf of the government so how can you credit him either way? This is just being fair,” he added.
