…Shettima Charges youths on Unity for APC’s Success,
…Wase Expresses Optimism at Polls
Plateau State and newly appointed Director General of Asiwaju/Shettima Presidential Campaign Organization, has expressed his commitment to achieving success for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in next year’s presidential election.
Lalong said that while addressing party supporters who had come to welcome him at the Yakubu Gowon Airport, Jos, on his return from Abuja: “This is another time for us to work for the victory of APC and also the victory of Tinubu/Shettima presidential ticket.
He stated that his position as the campaign council’s director general demonstrates that Plateau people are respected in national politics and that the state will support the APC as he went on to charge Nigerians, especially the electorate to keep religion out of politics.
His words, “Campaigning for Tinubu/Shettima Presidential election will not be a new thing for us in Plateau State; it is not a difficult task at all. It was the same difficulty we faced in 2015 when some people said we would not win the election because we were tagged a Muslim party, but we won that election.
All I want is for us to cement our relationship. Nigeria is one nation. The challenges that we have are not from the Muslims or the Christians. We have common challenges and our duty is to unite the people for development.
“I have capable hands on ground whom we will work together to deliver APC in the next election,” he affirmed.
Meanwhile, the vice-presidential candidate of the party, Kashim Shettima during an interactive session with a delegation of Arewa Youth for Tinubu Support Group in Abuja on Thursday, charged them to mobilize youths from across the country to support the party to emerge victorious next year’s election.
He promised them a pivotal role in an APC government if the party won.
His words: “In the next dispensation, we shall be all-inclusive. We are going to carry the youths along.
“The issue of us saying the youths are too young to be at the stewardship of the nation cannot stand the test of empirical verification.
“The nation belongs to the youths. The youths are the future of this nation.
Senator Shettima implored them not to be deterred by “artificial divergence being manufactured by ethnic and religious entrepreneurs who want to smile their ways to the bank on the agonies of our people.”
He added: “My daughter got married last Saturday. Of the musicians that they invited to play, almost 90 per cent of them are from the South.
“Nobody knew which language or their mother tongue or the faith that they profess. This is the Nigeria of our dream; where all of us should fuse into one irrespective of differences and political affiliations, religious persuasion, fibre or sectional background.”
Chairman of the occasion and Patron of the support group, Senator Aliyu Abdullahi, said the group would deliver the northern region for Tinubu and Shettima in 2023.
Abdullahi, who is the Deputy Chief Whip, said: “We thank God for the success of this event. The initiative is a laudable one as it will help in delivering the northern region for Tinubu and Shettima 2023.
On his part, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Ahmed Idris Wase said that the APC is on course to victory in the 2023 presidential election with the Tinubu/Shettima ticket.
His words were contained in a congratulatory message sent to Governor Lalong on his appointment as the Director General of the Presidential Campaign Organisation noting that the governor was competent and fit to lead the campaign.
He said Lalong is a “detribalised, very resourceful, ingenious and practical politician, an adept listener and a leader with the right attitude to grind out results where others cannot succeed.
“There could not have been a better choice than this. Governor Lalong has over the years proven beyond reasonable doubts that he is a unifier, a strategist, a mobiliser, a team player and a leader per excellence.”
