As the ongoing governorship election in Osun State nears conclusion, the National Leader of the All progressives Congress (APC) and presidential candidate of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has left the state.

The Liberation News reliably gathered that Tinubu has left Osun State to meet with the State House of Assembly Speakers from the party in Abuja.

The speakers who are from Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Jigawa, Imo, Ekiti, and Cross Rivers State among others had come to felicitate the party’s presidential candidate on his emergence as the winner of the presidential primaries of the party held recently.

They went on to pledge their support for his (Tinubu’s) anticipated emergence in the 2023 general elections.

In his remarks, Tinubu appreciated the comity of speakers for the gesture and goodwill as he promised them active roles in his campaign activities in the coming election.

The former Lagos governor also used the medium to explain, for the umpteenth time, the rationale behind his decision to settle for the former Governor of Borno State, Senator Kashim Shettima as his running mate.

He explained that his decision was informed by recommendations he got from his wide consultations as he described Shettima as a patriotic, selfless and passionate Nigerian with an impressive capacity to serve.

He added that it will only be fair if the VP is picked from the Northeast since the party National Chairman, Adamu Abdulahi, is from North-Central.

He went on to shower commendation on the President, Muhammadu Buhari, for his “magnanimity and understanding on the issue of the selection of Shettima as a running mate”, and passionately appealed to Nigerians to “see beyond religion in their quest to strengthen democracy and make Nigeria successful”.

“I am a Muslim married to a Christian, a pastor,” as quoted saying in a statement by Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Eromosele Ebhomele.
