Lagos Speaker, Obasa Visits First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, Hails Her Far-Reaching Renewed Hope Initiative

The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, on Friday, March 6, 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the First Lady of Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where he commended the impact of her flagship social intervention programme, the Renewed Hope Initiative.

Obasa described the initiative as a transformative platform that is already making a remarkable difference in the lives of vulnerable women and youths across the country.

He noted that programmes under the initiative are delivering tangible benefits in key sectors such as education, healthcare, and economic empowerment, thereby strengthening social support structures and expanding opportunities for disadvantaged groups.

According to the Speaker, the Renewed Hope Initiative represents a practical demonstration of compassionate leadership and a strong commitment to inclusive national development.

Obasa said greater collaboration between the initiative and state governments across the federation would further deepen its impact, urging subnational authorities to align with and support the programme.

Such synergy, he said, would enable the initiative to expand its reach and deliver more sustainable benefits to communities nationwide, particularly among women and young people who remain central to Nigeria’s development aspirations.

The visit also provided an opportunity for the Speaker to extend warm regards to the First Lady during the overlapping observances of Ramadan and Lent, a season he described as a powerful reminder of the shared values of faith, unity, compassion, and mutual respect among Nigerians.

He expressed optimism that initiatives focused on social inclusion, empowerment, and community development would continue to strengthen national cohesion and improve the welfare of citizens across the country.
