The Olubadan-In-Council has formally nominated former governor of Oyo State, Rashidi Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
Ladoja was nominated for the exalted position during a closed-door meeting held on Monday at the Olubadan Palace, Oke-Aremo, in the Ibadan North Local Government Area of Oyo State.
It was gathered that although Ladoja was absent from the meeting, the session was presided over by the Balogun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, who confirmed the council’s unanimous decision.
“All members of the Olubadan-In-Council have signed and endorsed Oba Rashidi Ladoja as the next Olubadan of Ibadanland,” Oba Ajibola stated.
He added that the council’s resolution would be formally submitted to Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, who will determine the date for the presentation of the staff of office to the new monarch.
“With the burial of the late Olubadan scheduled for this week, the installation will not take place immediately.
The governor may choose to hold the ceremony in one, two, or three weeks’ time,” Oba Ajibola explained.
The late Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, died on July 7, 2025.
Funeral arrangements are underway.
