Oju-Eko Community Empowerment Initiative, a youth group in Ojodu LCDA, Lagos, has carried out a thorough environmental sanitation exercise within the community to complement the council chairman, Olusegun Odunmbaku’s relentless stride in the environment sector.

The clean-up exercise was held on Tuesday at the heart of the border community, covering the stretch from Berger Bus Stop to the Bridge.

According to the convener, Haruna Jubril, the laudable exercise aimed to promote environmental hygiene, and beautification of the community, and raise awareness about the importance of maintaining a clean and green environment.

Youths turned out in large numbers, participating in sweeping, weeding, and clearing the gutters.

Jubril added that the initiative also included sensitization campaigns highlighting the health risks associated with poor hygiene, including fungal and viral infections, and underscoring the benefits of a clean community.

Jubril, on behalf of the youth group, extended heartfelt gratitude to the council chairman David Olusegun Odunmbaku, for not only inspiring the initiative but also for his immense contribution to its success.

He added that Odunmbaku’s leadership and dedication to a cleaner environment inspired many youths across Ojodu to join the effort and make a positive impact.

“The Clean-Up Ojodu Community Service Initiative marks the beginning of a series of impactful events aimed at transforming the community. Our humble appeal is to our youths to join hands with us in this cause and contribute to creating a healthier, greener Ojodu,” Haruna appealed.
