The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, RT Hon Mudashiru Obasa, has harped on the importance of sports in youth development.
He said this at the just concluded Obasa Games 2024, emphasising that “Sport is a pivotal key in youth development.”
A clear testament to his commitment and support to promoting youth development through sports. According to a statement credited to RT Hon Obasa, he said in the population strata, the youth occupies the largest numbers in the population analysis hence the need for continual development of policies, programs, laws and initiatives to contribute to the development of the youths in sports, on a regular basis.
The Obasa Games 2024, is an instance of such beneficial initiative for youth in sport development.
Obasa’s assertion is backed by numerous benefits associated with sports participation, including improved physical and mental health, enhanced teamwork and communication skills, and increased discipline and focus. He continued that the Lagos State Government has been actively promoting sports development, with initiatives like the Obasa Games 2024 festival, which aims to discover and nurture young talents. Talented idle hands amongst the youths are being woken up from their slumber , through initiative like that of the Obasa Games and given platforms to showcase what they have in the different sporting events, for rewarding gains and futures.
