…Oshodi-Isolo LGA Chairman Reacts
No fewer than six Kaduna State indigenes have been caught by officials of the Nigerian Army to have used indigeneship certificates from Lagos to enroll into the force.
Their games were up during the screening exercise when officials of the academy interrogated them about the authenticity of their indigeneship certificates.
In the video which is making rounds on social media, the six northerners confessed to hailing from Kaduna state and they presented duly stamped indigeneship certificates from Lagos Mainland, Oshodi-Isolo, and Kosofe Local Government Areas of Lagos State.
Upon further questioning, they confessed to having forged the certificates by printing them from cyber cafes.
In reaction, the chairman of Oshodi-Isolo LGA, Otunba Kehinde Oloyede-Almaroof confirmed that the certificates were fake as he accused the applicants of forgery.
In a press statement issued through his media office, Oloyede explained that preliminary investigations have shown that the fake certificates were made at cyber cafe as he assured that a thorough investigation will be made to unravel the unscrupulous elements and individuals behind the criminal acts.
“I received the report of the unfortunate trending video, where a letter of indigeneship were purportedly issued to some none indigenes, which has placed the local government in public glare. As the Executive Chairman, I have ordered that a thorough investigation be carried out and that all those involved be handed to security agencies for prosecution.”
“Let me use this opportunity to inform our people that we shall not in anyway sweep this unfortunate matter under the carpet, as we want to unearth those behind this to serve as deterrent to others who will want to drag the noble name of our council in disrepute. We will do the needful, we will not let any stone unturned”, the council boss said.
