Senator Chimaroke Nnamani has described his suspension from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) over alleged anti-party as Illegal saying he was denied his right to fair hearing.

This was as the former Governor of Enugu State passionately appealed to his numerous supporters to remain calm.

He assured them that the illegality will not be allowed to stand.

Recall that late on Friday, 20 January 2023, the National Publicity Secretary of the party announced the decision of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP to suspend the Senator representing Enugu West Senatorial District for anti-party activities.

According to a statement released in the early hours of today, Saturday, 21 January 2023, Dr Chimaroke said, “I have since been inundated by phone calls and messages from various persons, seeking my clarification on the matter. Just like every other person, the decision and announcement of my purported suspension came to me as a rude shock and a huge surprise”.

The former Governor, who is the leader of his Ebeano Political Family, said in the statement that he was never invited by any panel of inquiry for the said accusations, thus was never given any fair hearing.

In his words, “I was never at any time notified of any petition or complaint against me or informed of the grounds that formed the decision of the NWC of the PDP to suspend me from the party”.

He further stated that, “my right to fair hearing was consequently violated against the clear provisions of the constitution of the party, especially in disciplinary proceedings. More importantly the superior constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”.

He appealed to all his supporters to remain calm and law-abiding, while the campaign to a victorious conclusion is continued.
