A Yola-based appellate court has proclaimed Senator Aishatu Dahiru Binani as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State.
The Court of Appeal, presided over by Justice Tank Yusuf Hassan, nullified the judgment of the Yola High Court which earlier invalidated the governorship primary and declared that APC has no candidate for the 2023 governorship election.
But the senator had challenged the ruling of the lower court at the appeal court.
In its judgment on Thursday, the appellate court ordered that Binani’s name be submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) immediately.
Recall that Binani’s candidature came under scrutiny when former EFCC boss, Nuhu Ribadu who came second in the primary election dragged her to court.
Ribadu alleged vote buying and illegal delegates’ list at the intraparty election conducted on May 27, 2022.
