Strike: FG Alone Can’t Fund Varsities; Parents, Others Should Support – Gov Inuwa

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has opined that government alone cannot fund universities.

He, therefore, suggested that other stakeholders like parents should support the schools.

The governor made the comment on Friday, hours after the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) suspended its eight-month industrial in which the lecturers demanded better funding of universities and other issues.

Recall that the academic union embarked on strike action on Monday, February 14, 2022 to protest the non-implementation of the 2009 Memorandum of Understanding reached with it by the Federal Government.
