Bayo Onanuga, veteran journalist and Director of Media and Publicity of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday while speaking on Arise TV Morning Show disclosed that Asíwájú Bola Ahmed Tinubu, foremost presidential candidate in the country and his running mate, Kashim Shettima will campaign on their achievements as governors of Lagos and Borno states, respectively and this is going to also be in tandem with the achievements of incumbent President Mohammadu Buhari’s positive attainments as well, he further stated.
Onanuga, in the Arise TV interview monitored by Theliberationnews clearly stated that both Tinubu and Shettima were outstanding during their reigns as Governors of their respective states. He stated that it only makes sense that the progressive ticket should leverage such superb performances during the upcoming electioneering campaign.
According to Onanuga, “We’re also going to campaign on the achievements of the Buhari administration and I want to tell you that the present administration has achieved a lot which are also sources of campaign for us.
“The Buhari administration has achieved a lot in the areas of economy, security and infrastructure development. Yes, there’re challenges and there is no government without its challenges but I made bold to say that the Buhari administration has achieved a lot and we’re going to campaign with its achievements,” he said.
The Tinubu/Shettima campaign DG further stated that what Lagos is enjoying today was the foundation laid down by Tinubu when he assumed office as the state governor in 1999.
“He set up transition committees which came up with a development plan for the state. It was this plan that successive administrations in the state have been building on. When Fashola came into office in 2007, he was called the ‘actualizer.’ What was he meant to actualise if not the development plan put in place by Tinubu,” he asked rhetorically.
On Buhari’s achievements, Onanuga stated that the administration has done well in all areas but has been grossly underreported.
“A lot of roads network have been constructed; look at the Second Niger Bridge which is almost ready and will be commissioned by this administration. What about the rail network? The Buhari administration has achieved a lot in this area.
“In the area of security, this administration has done a lot to neutralize bandits and terrorists. In recent times, bandits and terrorists are being neutralised almost on a daily basis. The records are there. Yes, as I said earlier, there are challenges. We will build on the achievements of the Buhari administration and attack the challenges to make life better for Nigerians,” he said.
On the Tinubu/Shettima ticket manifesto, Onanuga said that it is almost ready and that it will be presented publicly before the commencement of campaign on 28 September.
