Ahead of official declaration, leading contestant for the presidential candidature of ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has emerged winner of the party’s presidential primaries holding at the Eagle Square, Abuja.

Tinubu scored 1, 271 votes thus emerging overall winner.

Immediate past Transport Minister and former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi is trailing him with 200 plus votes while Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo follows with 100 plus votes.

Osinbajo had earlier departed the venue for inexplicable reasons but is now back at the venue. Tinubu walked up to the VP and exchanged pleasantries with him, amid jubilations from Tinubu’s teeming supporters.

No fewer than seven contenders had earlier stepped down for Tinubu, asking their delegates to vote for the former Lagos State governor.

Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi; ex-Akwa Ibom State Governor, Godswill Akpabio; ex-Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun; former House of Representatives Speaker, Dimeji Bankole, among others, also backed down and asked their delegates to vote for Tinubu, before balloting.
