…Gov. Dapo Abiodun Endorses Akinosi While Political Stakeholders Call On Ojugbele To Step Down
The coast has become clearer in Ado-Odo Ota in Ogun State with facts available to The Liberation News indicating that Hon. Tunji Akinosi, current Commissioner for Forestry in Ogun State is the preferred aspirant/candidate of ruling All Progressives Party (APC).
All things being equal, he is set to represent Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives from 2023.
The Liberation News sources revealed that placed side by side the ever reliable Akinosi, the incumbent member of the Federal House of Representatives from the area, Hon. Jimoh Ojugbele, is no match to the former.
Akinosi is considered a more popular, reliable and better preferred choice and the man that can bring about the desired development from the centre to the highly industrialised community of the gateway state.
The Liberation News sources from within the ruling APC revealed that delegates from the area have concluded that they would not allow what befell them twelve years ago, when they settled for Hon. Ojugbele, saying, “we have had enough of a man that is just in the House and has not done anything to positively affect our community. Affliction must not rise again.”
They stressed that twelve years ago, when Hon. Jimoh Ojugbele was overwhelmingly voted for to represent the Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, the people looked forward to a better life and massive development on all fronts.
However, they said that the opposite is now the case as “Ojugbele has not been able to do much for us or fulfill his campaign promises to the residents of the area in twelve years.”
Some residents of the area accused Ojugbele of not speaking on the floor for the area and that he is busy protecting his own interest in Abuja rather than speaking for the people of the constituency.
Pastor Jide Kushinmo said: “We have not felt the impact of Hon. Ojugbele since he got to the Federal House of Representatives twelve years ago.”
Engr. Debo Raheem added that “most of the projects he claimed to have done are not real and he just comes around during electioneering period to deceive the party leaders and residents that he would perform and give unnecessary excuses.”
Alhaji Mujeeb Aderibigbe also said that Ojugbele has never spoken on the floor of the House.
“Let him come and tell us what he has done for us.”
“We are suffering in Ado-Odo/Ota. Despite the fact that this is an industrialised area, our roads are bad, we have no public school, there are no social amenities of any kind in the area as if we don’t have anybody at the green chamber,” added Tajudeen Odunfa, a cousin of Ojugbele.
In his view, another resident of the area, Kehinde Babalola, said “this is not the best of times for the community despite the fact that they have Ojugbele as their representative for twelve years.”
On his part, Akinosi was credited with much achievements as a commissioner in Ogun State.
They described him as a man of the people, a grassroots politician who has used his influence to assist the people of the area since he got to office in 2019.
The Liberation News reliably gathered that leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ado-Odo/Ota area have made up their minds to give their support to Akionsi that they see as a better candidate that can attend to the yearnings of the people if elected in 2023 as he has been consistently doing as a commissioner in Ogun State.
The Liberation News investigation further revealed that Governor Dapo Abiodun sees Akionsi as a dependable and trustworthy aide that must be given higher state task. Abiodun is reputed to appreciate loyal aide like Akinosi.
