The minister of justice and attorney general of the federation, Abubakar Chika Malami, has finally on Thursday declared his interest to contest the Kebbi governorship under the state ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Malami made his intentions known at the Presidential Hall, Birnin Kebbi during APC’s stakeholders’ meeting.
While addressing his audience, he tactically declared: “If you will support me and accept me, I wish to say I am interested in becoming the next governor of Kebbi if you permit me.” Theliberationnews reliably gathered that his declaration had the blessings of the state executives of APC, ward Chairmen and local governments excos through the resounding affirmation that was given to him.
Muhammad Abubakar Kana, the state’s APC Chairman in his own speech urged members of the party to woo more reasonable persons that can add value to the party for its success in the coming 2023 general elections.
Recall that Malami and other political appointees aspiring to contest for elective positions in 2023 were given 72 hours to resign their appointments.
But Malami and others at the federal level still hold on despite their public declarations of their elective public office aspirations.
