The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Isolo Branch, has officially charted its course for the new year following its first management meeting under the visionary leadership of Damilola Kushimo.

The meeting held on the premises of Isolo Youth Centre, Ile-Iwe Metta, LSDPC Estate was centered on formally familiarizing the new leadership with the representatives of its subsisting of Voluntary Youth Organization (VYOs) and Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) as well as to brainstorm on the administrative plan for the year.

Among other agendas that was discussed was the revalidation of affiliated organizations and the importance of having a database of for young individuals in the council. Kushimo described the proposed revalidation as an integral part of his administrative agenda to ensure that every youth organisation is in good standing with the council authority and the youth umbrella body.

The meeting provided a platform to deliberate on upcoming initiatives, including digital skill acquisition, civic engagement drives, and community development. Other executive members in attendance which included, the Secretary, Comrade Mustopha Najmudeen; the Treasurer, Comrade Isah Rukayat and the Social Secretary, Sultan Abiona expressed their readiness to implement these plans, noting that the administration is focused on providing far-reaching opportunities for Isolo’s youth. The Coordinator urged management members to maintain high standards of accountability, stressing that the council’s success depends on the synergy between leadership and the various youth organizations it represents.

A Representative from the department of Agric, Rural and Community Development Isolo LCDA, Mr. Agboola Agbabiaka, harped on the need for organisations to pay their due to the council’s coffers as well the importance of maintaining good relationship with the youth council and the LCDA in extension.

On his part, a former treasurer and reverted leader of the youth umbrella body Comrade Abdul Rauf, commended the Kushimo-led administration for its impressive start to life and clear sense of direction. Abdul Rauf praised the current leadership for its energy, affirming that the positive resurgence of Isolo branch is already being referenced to at the state level. He encouraged the executives to sustain the momentum to ensure Isolo that remains a powerhouse within the Lagos State youth circle.

Notable among the organizations represented at the epochal event were the Scout, the Nigeria Girl Guides Association, Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria, United Army of Christ (UAC), PLEYDA Youth Enlightenment Forum, NACOSS, Nigerian Man O’ War, Al-Muminat Organisation, Academic Excellence Initiative and SUDAI among others.
