The Gateway Polytechnic (ICT) Saapade (GAPOSA) has again solidified its reputation as a leading institution in Ogun State by excelling at the recently concluded Gateway Tertiary Institution Games (GATIG) 2024.

The polytechnic’s athletes showcased exceptional talent and determination, winning a total of 21 medals – 10 Gold, 7 Silver, and 4 Bronze.

GAPOSA’s athletes competed in various categories including Athletics (Track and Field Events), Chess, Ayo Olopon, and Long Jump, proving their prowess in both individual and team events.

The institution’s dominance in the athletics events was particularly impressive, with several standout performances:
-Gold Medals: Discuss (male), 200m (female), 4x400m (male and female)
-Gold and Silver: 1500m (female), 800m (female), 400m (male)
-Gold and Bronze: 1500m (male), 800m (male)
-Silver Medals: 100m (male and female), Ayo olopon (female)
-Bronze Medals: Shot put (male), 200m (male – Silver and Bronze)

The Rector, Dr. Sanni Oseni expressed his delight while receiving the delegation in his office, noting that the Governing Council’s readiness in sport development.

He also expressed the council’s support for sports, encouraging the sports team to remain focused and prepare relentlessly towards the forthcoming national sports games.

“The athletes’ stellar performance at GATIG 2024 reinforced Gateway Polytechnic’s status as a sporting powerhouse, with their collective efforts bringing pride and honor to the institution and the entire Ogun State,” he said.
