Popular Nigerian Islamic musician, Rukayat Gawat-Oyefeso has passed away.
She is first child and daughter of the popular broadcaster, Alhaji Rasaq Gawat.
She was well-known for her appealing voice and religious music that resonated with many in the Muslim community.
The news of her death was first shared by popular Ilorin based cleric Alfa Aribidesi At-Tawdeeh Islamic Da’awah his official Facebook page on Tuesday morning.
Confirming her demise, Jubril Gawat, the senior special advisers to Lagos State Governor on New Media, posted a verse from the holy Quran which reads: “Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.” Q 2 V 156.
The post which was made on his X and Facebook accounts have since elicited heartfelt condolences from his friends and associates.
It was gathered that her remains will be interred later today according to Islamic rites.
The deceased singer was married to Insurace guru, Alhaji Shakiri Oyefeso.
