For threatening to “put fire” in the states of governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the leader of Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), Chief E.K. Clark has called for the immediate arrest of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike.

Clark made the call in an open letter to the IGP, which he released at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday,

He added that danger was looming in the country as a result of the predisposition of a serving minister to make pronouncements that were patently treasonable and egregiously insulting to fellow citizens.

Theliberationnews reported that Wike; the immediate past governor of Rivers State had, on Saturday, during a factional PDP congress in Rivers State, threatened to stir up crisis in any state, whose governor, interfered with the politics of Rivers State.

According to Clark, “Wike’s labeling governors is a ‘flagrant disrespect’ to President Bola Tinubu, who appointed him.”

He described the remarks as “unbridled” and “treasonable” even as he suggested that they could incite violence

Responding to a question on his claim that Wike had committed treason, Clark said: “I’ve done my homework, I’m about 60 years at the bar, even though I’m not a SAN. This is because I was doing government jobs. I was a brilliant lawyer. So, I’ve done my homework. There are various laws of this country Wike has breached

“I’ve even got some senior lawyers to help me, who have now discovered that Wike has breached a number of Nigerian laws, public laws, and so on, and has committed crimes. For him to say that he will put fire in states belonging to PDP governors and so on, it’s treason, it’s treasonable.

“…Here is a serving minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria saying that he will bomb the states of his colleagues; and they won’t sleep again in their houses. He said he would do everything to disorganize the government of those states. Nobody, no governor, no minister can go to that extent. It’s a breach of the Constitution. So, he has committed a series of offences.”

Clark highlighted the inconsistency in the government’s response to dissent, and recalled how the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore, and #EndBadGovernance protesters were arrested for similar misdemeanour.

He demanded a retraction of the alleged treasonable statements by Wike and urged the IGP to take action against the FCT Minister.
