The candidate of Labour Pary for Federal House of Representatives seat of Akoko-Edo Federal Constituency during the 2023 elections, Omobayo Godwin has been sworn in as the Deputy Governor of Edo State.

The oath of office was administered on Godwin, 37, by Edo State Chief Judge, Justice Daniel Okungbowa almost immediately after Philip Shaibu was sacked by the state house of assembly.

Godwin was sworn in around 1:40 pm on Monday by the Chief Judge of Edo State Justice Daniel Okungbowa.

After he took the oath of office, Omobayo who was dressed in a white kaftan and a red native cap to match, was greeted by a rousing crowd in one of the halls at the Government House.
