…cash prizes, medals, others up for grabs

The leadership of National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Branch is set to organise tech quiz for secondary school students In order to commemorate this year’s United Nations International Girls In ICT Day.

The event is slated for Thursday, April 24, at the multipurpose hall of the Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Council secretariat along town planning way, Ilupeju.

According to the coordinator, Engineer Adigun Ibrahim, the event will see students from five senior secondary schools in the council area compete in tech quiz.

He explained the event is to emphasized on the need to empower girls with tech skills for economic independence adding that with technology now at the center of our day-to-day activities, the need to encourage girls to become tech-savvy cannot be overemphasized.

“This event is to celebrate girls with ICT skills and encourage others to become tech-savvy and ultimately ensure that more women get into the ICT sector. Our local branch places premium on human capital development and tech is one of the avenues we want our members and the youths in general to key into for financial independence and the good of the society,” Adigun said.

He hinted cash prizes, medals and other consolation prizes are up for grabs for the participating students.
