Hon. Kunle Oluomo has declared that he remains the bonafide Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly as he faulted the process of his supposed impeachment.

Oluomo who represents Ifo State Constituency 1 was sacked from office on Tuesday by 18 lawmakers over alleged high handedness as the members elected Hon. Oludaisi Elemide as his replacement.

However, the embattled speaker broke his silence on the impeachment saga, declaring action of the 18 lawmakers “unconstitutional, null, void and of no effect whatsoever.”

Oluomo, who addressed reporters in his Legislative Quarters residence, Ibara GRA Abeokuta on Friday, informed that he has approached the court for adjudication on the matter.

Sources told our correspondent that the impeached speaker’s aide has also not been seen in or around the legislative complex since the impeachment.

About 42 hours after his impeachment, the state government, through a statement, noted that the legislative house has the right to elect its leaders even though the executives and the party were working to ensure peace at the assembly.
