Three industries have been closed down by Ogun State Government over environmental infractions.

Ola Oresanya, Ogun state Commissioner for the Environment ordered closure of the three companies for flouting environmental best practices.

According to a statement on his official X, formerly Twitter, the revered environmental expert stated that the affected companies infringed on environmental best practices in the state.

The affected companies are: Ruili Recycling Limited in Mowe, Robust International PTE Limited also in Mowe, and Star Pipe Limited in Sagamu.

Oresanya accused Ruili Recycling Company of discharging wastes into the immediate environment, especially the premises of Christopher University, which exposed students to avoidable danger.

Also, Robust International PTE was accused of involving in illegal demolition of a fence bounding the company and Christopher University to reclaim some portion of land and subsequently divert stormwater into the premises.

However, Star Pipe Ltd was said to have failed to install effluent treatment plants in their facilities and was discharging raw and hydraulic acid into their immediate environment.

According the the commissioner: The three companies will remain shut until they correct all the lapses detected as the state government is not interested in closing them down, but for them to operate according to the best global environmental standards.”
