The Supreme Council of Igbo Traditional Rulers In Lagos State under the leadership of Eze Lawrence Nnamdi has denied the self-acclaimed Eze Ndigbo Ajao Estate, Fredrick Nwajiagu, saying he acted on his own by threatening to invite the outlawed Indigenous People Of Biafra, (IPOB) to secure the property of Igbos in Lagos State.

The group stated that Eze Nwajiagu is not their member and they have nothing to do with him and he does not represent the interest of Ndigbo living in the State.

Theliberationnews reported that Nwajiagu on Friday gallantly issued threat via a video posted on Twitter. He was, however, arrested by the joint operation of Men of Nigerian Police and the Department of State Services in the early hours of Saturday. He was arrested in a hotel room in Ejigbo area of Lagos having run away from his Ajao Estate residence.

In the viral video, he said ” “IPOB, we will invite them. They have no job. All of the IPOB will protect all of our shops. And we have to pay them. We have to mobilise for that. We have to do that. We must have our security so that they will stop attacking us at midnight, in the morning, and in the afternoon”.

“When they discover that we have our security before they will come, they will take caution. I am not saying a single word to be hidden. I am not hiding my words, let my words go viral. Igbo must get their rights and get a stand in Lagos State.”

The Eze Ndigbo’s statement was made by its Deputy Chairman, Eze Dr Vincent Iwobi, who expressed utmost disgust and disappointment with the trending video.

Eze Iwobi, who is also the Obi of Anioma, spoke on behalf of the highest decision body of Ezendigbo in Lagos, condemned the action by Nwajiagu, stating categorically that his group has nothing to do with the said trending viral video.

”The Supreme Council of Ezendigbo Lagos State hereby disassociate ourselves from Eze Frederick Nwajiagu’s (Eze Ndigbo Ajao Estate) threat to invite IPOB to Lagos. He is not our member nor our spokesman and indeed Ndigbo Lagos State either. Therefore, he should be held responsible and accountable for his actions.”

Iwobi stated that the Igbo are law-abiding and hardworking people with legitimate means of living, who believe in peaceful co-existence among the host and other ethnic groups in Lagos State and therefore, do not associate themselves with any form of violence.

“Peaceful co-existence among our landlords and chief hosts remains uppermost in our hearts and duty.”

He went on urge Igbos in Lagos to remain law abiding and go out for their normal business engagements and continue to live in peace and harmony with people around them wherever they reside in Lagos State.

Meanwhile, the Department of State Services has said that Nwajagu, would be transferred to its Abuja facility from Lagos.

A security source at the DSS Headquarters, Abuja, who spoke on condition of anonymity, disclosed this saying, “He is in our custody in Lagos. We expect him to be brought to Abuja. He may not be alone.

“We have said before that there are people who are threatening the peace of the nation. The country will not allow anyone to plunge it into avoidable crisis.”
