The Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo has won his reelection to remain in the hallowed chamber representing Ifo Constituency 1.
The lawmaker polled 7,546 votes to defeat the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Okikiola Ogundele, a son of the PDP Chairman in Ogun, Sikirulahi Ogundele who had 6,596 after Saturday’s rerun election.
Oluomo will now be representing Ifo Constituency 1 for a record fourth time in the state house of Assembly under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Recall that INEC had declared the initial election held on March 18 inconclusive on the basis that the margin of lead is not up to the number of PVCs collected in Unit 04 of Ifo Ward 1 where the election was canceled.
INEC had announced the cancellation of the result in the unit due to over-voting.
Prior to today’s rerun election, Oluomo scored 7,379 votes, while PDP’s Ogundele polled 6,411 votes.
The result of the rerun election showed that Oluomo polled 167 votes while PDP scored 185 out of the possible 363 possible votes.
