The federal government has confirmed the resignation of the Minister of State Petroleum Resources Chief Timipre Sylva from the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
His resignation was sequel to his touted ambition to contest in the All Progressive Congress, APC, governorship primaries in Bayelsa State slated for next month and the development was confirmed by the Special Assistant on Digital Communications to the president, Bashir Ahmad via a tweet on his official Twitter handle.
“Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, and former Bayelsa state governor, H.E. Timipre Sylva, has resigned his appointment to contest in the next Bayelsa governorship election”.
Sylva, a one-term former governor of Bayelsa had last year resigned as Minister after making known his intention to contest the Presidential primaries of the APC.
He, however, withdrew the letter despite attending a valedictory session with President Buhari alongside other Ministers who contested the primaries.
