Gunmen that invaded and kidnapped passengers from Ekehen station in Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State have demanded N620 Million ransom for the safe release of their victims, Theliberationnews reports.
It was learnt that the kidnappers reached out to family members of their 32 victims on Monday and demanded N20 million ransom for each of the kidnapped victim
Theliberationnews reported on Monday that a youth leader in the area, Benson Ordia, confirmed the incident noting that the state government has promised to survey the area, an activity which was said to have begun in earnest.
However, it was learnt that the Edo state Command’s spokesperson, SP Chidi Nwanbuzor said he is not aware of the demand by the kidnappers
Recall that the victims which included staff of the train station were kidnapped on Saturday when gunmen Invaded the station and whisked them into the bush.
Eyewitnesses have credited the successful invasion and kidnapping to the lack of security personnel at the substation.
Six of the victims, including three minors, were rescued by security agents in collaboration with hunters and vigilantes.
