There has been a deluge of heartfelt condolences to Davido and his fiancee, Chioma over the death of their son, Ifeanyi.
Top among those who have shared in the their grief were the foremost presidential candidate in the country and respected National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as well as candidates of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, candidate of the Labour Party (LP), among others.
In a statement via his verified Twitter handle, Tinubu condoled with the bereaved as he prayed to God to grant them the mental strength to come to terms with the great loss.
“Oluremi and I send our heartfelt and deepest condolences to David, Chioma and the entire Adeleke family over the tragic loss of their son, Ifeanyi.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. May the Lord grant them the fortitude and strength to deal with this painful tragedy,” he tweeted.
“My thoughts and prayers are with Davido and Chioma and the Adeleke family at this time. I pray for God to strengthen and comfort them,” Atiku tweeted.
On his part, Peter Obi said; “I send my sincere condolences to Davido and Chioma, over the death of their son Ifeanyi. I cannot begin to imagine the pains they are going through at the moment.
“May God grant them healing, strength and comfort in this trying time. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.”
Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun State also sent his empathy to the breaved and their families, saying that it is a loss no responsible person would ever wish for.
The governor also sympathised with Davido’s father, Dr. Deji Adeleke, over the death of his grandson, saying as a grandfather, he feels Dr. Adeleke’s pain.
“Sad to learn of the unfortunate passing of Ifeanyi, son of music star, David Adeleke popularly known as @davido. On behalf of my family and the people of Osun, I sympathise with Davido, over this heart-rending incident.
“I know how painful it is to see a boy we all saw last week bubbling with life to now be referred to in the past. I pray God comforts you and Chioma. Rest assured, very soon, God will bless you both with another son who will live long to fulfill his dreams in life.
“I also sympathise with Davido’s father, Dr. Deji Adeleke, over the death of his beloved grandson. As a grandfather myself, I feel and share your pains. I pray God to comfort you and the entire Adeleke family at this moment of grief. Our prayers and thoughts are with you all,” Oyetola tweeted.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, in a telephone interview with our correspondent, said eight domestic staff were earlier invited and questioned.
He said out of the eight persons invited and quizzed, the nanny was being held over the unfortunate incident.
Hundeyin said the nanny was helping a team of homicide detectives to unravel the circumstances behind the death of the boy.
The three-year-old Ifeanyi drowned in a pool at his father’s house in Banana Island on Monday while his parents, Davido and fiancee, Chioma Rowlands, were at Ibadan, Oyo State, for a family gathering.
