In furtherance of its service to humanity, Lagos Isolo Lions Club, Thursday, set up a library and sickbay facilities in Faromnbi Nursery and Primary School, Isolo, Lagos.

The project, according to the club’s president, Lion Sunday Timothy Obisesan (PMJF, NLCF) was to complement government efforts in the education sector by making learning and its environment more fun and better endeared to the pupils.

The project tagged ‘Olatunbosu Activity Room’ featured beautiful designs, books, chairs and reading tables as well as a sickbay facility and according to Obisesan, the project was executed in partnership with 3deeolat Foundation.

“This project boils down to our service to humanity because in Lions Club we are selflessly into service to humanity, especially to the less privilege and having known in our mind that government alone cannot provide the needed development, we’ve put this effort together to support the government so that this school can enjoy the facility,”

Obisesan added that the decision to furnish the school with such facilities became pertinent following a thorough assessment visitation carried out hinting that the cost implication ran into two million naira.

“In 2020 we did something like this at Igando Local Government Primary School and now we are doing it in Faronmbi Nursery and Primary School having discovered that the school is lacks such facility. The cost of putting this together is almost two million; to get the chairs, painting, books, shelves, bed and all that but we are happy to do something like this we are really happy,” the president said.

On his part, the Chairman of Isolo LCDA, Olasoju Adebayo who was represented by the Secretary to the Local Government (SLG) Hon. Sikiru Adeshina Salisu commended the service club and its partners for undertaking the project as he called on other NGOs, service clubs and corporate organizations in the council area to up their commitment to complementing government efforts on continued societal development.

“I can’t but commend this noble club for this laudable project. Facilities like this will make learning and the environment more appealing to the pupils. Your collaborative effort by way of this project will greatly complement our strive in this sector even as we hope that you will look into other areas as well.”

“As your club’s catchphrase says; “Together, we serve better,” May I use this medium to call on other stakeholders in our council area including well-meaning individuals, NGOs and service clubs to complement governmental efforts because, indeed, what we can achieve collectively is endless. On our part as government, I can assure you that we won’t rest on our oars,” the council boss said.

Toeing the path of the council honcho, the Education Secretary (ES) of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) Hon. Mayowa Alakija also showered praises on the club as he described the project as a “rare gesture.”

Speaking of the need to provide similar facilities to other schools In the LGA, Alakija promised that government will look into it as he also called on other service clubs and NGOs to look into partnering with government.

“This is a rare gesture from and I can assure that it will be put to optimal usage. We will sustain the relationship with Lions Club and keep the door opened for workable partnership with other organizations because just as security is everyone’s business so is education,” Alakija remarked.

The headteacher of the school, Mrs. Okoroafor-Ugbogu Joy
expressed her delight over the project revealing that its a development long overdue in the school.

Okoroafor-Ugbogu assured that the pupils will use it for their utmost benefit.

Also speaking, Lion Kunle Asala, the past president of the club and an alumnus of the school charged other alumni need give back to their alma mater.
