Governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have affirmed their support for the foremost presidential flag bearer of the party and the country, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima.

This put a lie to insinuations in the public space that the APC governors are not on the same page with Tinubu because he not pick one of the serving governors that supported his emergence as the party’s flag bearer as his running mate.

The governors passed a vote of confidence in the duo when they paid a Sallah homage to president Muhammadu Bihari at his residence in Daura, Kastina State on Monday.

Speaking after a closed-door meeting with the president, the governors expressed their pleasure and concurrence in Tinubu’s decision to pick the former governor of Borno State as his running mate whom they described as one of the nation’s finest.

Speaking with journalists, Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodima made it known that the governors gave their consent to Asiwaju’s decision as he declared that the 22 governors of the party are on course to achieve resounding victory for the party in the 2023 general elections in their various states.

His counterpart from Kebbi State, Atiku Bagudu expressed confidence that Tinubu-Shettima presidency will consolidate the successes of the outgoing Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

Other governors at the meeting include Abdulahi Sule of Nasarawa, Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti, Simon Lalong of Plateau, Abubakar Bello of Niger, Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna, Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano and the host governor, Aminu Masari of Kastina.
