A Federal High Court in Lagos State has remanded a man, Agbolade Agbolahan, in prison for allegedly Impersonating the Oniru of Iruland, Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan and defrauding a professor of the sum of N500,000.

Agbolahan was said to have hacked the Facebook account of the revered monarch to perpetrate the act.

The Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa ordered that Agbolahan be remanded after his arraignment before the court.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him by the Police Special Fraud Unit, Ikoyi, Lagos.

Agbolahan is facing two counts bordering on hacking and obtaining by false pretences.

The police prosecutor, Mr Slyvester Azubuike, told the court that the defendant hacked the Facebook account sometime in April 2022.

Following his plea of not guilty, the prosecutor asked for a trial date, and urged the court to remand Agbolahan in prison.

Lewis-Allagoa adjourned the matter for hearing of the bail application and ordered the remand of the defendant.
